Brian Boru's March & Ballydesmond Polka (Album Version)

$6.99

From the battlefield to the dance hall, the harp has traditionally been present at every moment of life. Brian Boru's March is one of the first tunes I learned on the harp. It's said to have been written either by, or for, the ancient Irish King Brian Boru who ruled Ireland in the early 11th century. In those days, the harp was an instrument of war and would be carried into battle to encourage the troops as they faced down their enemies. And what better way to encourage those troops than with a lively dance like the Ballydesmond Polka? Ballydesmond is a rural village in County Cork, Ireland. While I've never been there, let us imagine the troops returning victorious to dance the polka in celebration!

• Level: Intermediate

• Key: Am with two F#’s

• Chord symbols: Yes

• Fingering: None

• Brackets: None
