About Kathryn

Singer, Harpist, and Educator

Hailed as a “world-class vocal talent," Kathryn made her Carnegie Hall debut as the soprano soloist in Tarik O’Regan’s Triptych in 2015. Both composer and conductor agreed that hers was “the finest live performance of [O’Regan’s] beautiful score.” She holds an MM in Vocal Performance from UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music and has been teaching for over 10 years.

Kathryn's performance experience spans multiple genres and styles including opera, professional choral singing, and solo recitals in classical repertoire, musical theater, and traditional Irish singing and harping. Her teaching style borrows from all of these great traditions, and makes use of the latest developments in ergonomics (healthy movement) and neuroscience.

All Things Common

Kathryn's first recording experience was with the Grammy award-winning ensemble Pacific Chorale as a soloist on their chamber choir album "All Things Common." The album featured music by the renowned composer Tarik O'Regan. Kathryn was privileged to sing one of the soprano solos in "The Ecstasies Above," and the soprano solo in the world premiere of "Facing West."

Echos from Home

Kathryn's first solo album, entitled "Echos from Home," is a collection of Irish, Scottish, and American folk tunes arranged for harp and voice. It was featured in Irish Music Magazine, and on Blues and Roots Radio in Ireland.

The Tell-Tale Harp

Kathryn's race-to-the-finish-line halloween album was released October of 2023. It was specially requested by some of her YouTube fans and features traditional folk songs in spooky tunings!

Masque of the Red Death

Kathryn wrote this original tune for her student Scarlett. Titled after the short story by Edgar Allan Poe, it’s also featured on her halloween album, “The Tell-Tale Harp.”

Opera

Kathryn’s opera roles include Melissa in a new production of Handel's Amadigi, directed by James Darrah; Mary Crawford in Jonathan Dove's Mansfield Park; La Fée in Cendrillon directed by Peter Kazaras; Nannetta (Falstaff); and Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), as well as staged productions of Bach’s Coffee Cantata, and Handel’s Triumph of Time and Truth. Kathryn has performed in several concert operas, including Steve Reich's Three Tales with Long Beach Opera, Aida with San Diego Opera Chorus, and several productions with Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale.

Concerts & Recitals

Kathryn's professional choral work includes the renowned vocal ensemble Seraphic Fire, Long Beach Camarata Singers, and regular appearances with the Grammy award winning ensemble Pacific Chorale. Well-known venues include Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and Segerstrom Hall in Orange County. She has done over a dozen solo recitals including a special presentation, "La Nuit Blanche," featuring some of Debussy's lesser known art songs. Her live performances as a harpist have taken her around the country from the local Irish Folk Festival in Costa Mesa to the Southeastern Harp Festival in Asheville, North Carolina.
